What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold on Viator. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with VisitScotland, The Highland Council, Eilean Donan, Dunvegan Castle, Talisker or any other attraction the tours visit, or with any tour operator.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest per-person fare. Some tours are close relatives, and each listing appears on its own because each is separately bookable and priced: the Timberbush 3-day tour leaves Edinburgh and Glasgow on the same route at the same fare, and the HAGGiS hostel tour and the Highland Explorer 5-day tour are sister companies' versions of one route.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different trips: a day from Inverness, three days from Edinburgh with two nights in Portree, and a whole day on the island from Portree.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 20 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Every fare here is per person except one: the Happy Tours private day from Inverness is sold per vehicle, for a party of up to three, which is the listing's own statement rather than our reading of it.

The admission prices and hours we print are in pounds, as each attraction publishes them on its own site: Eilean Donan, Dunvegan Castle & Gardens, Talisker Distillery and the Storr car park. The ferry facts are CalMac's. The climate figures are the Met Office's own 1991–2020 averages for its Skye station at Prabost. Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a meeting point, a group size, an age limit or where you sleep, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

• £12 for Eilean Donan. One listing prints that adult price. The castle's own page gives £13 for 2026, and the castle's page wins.
• The island's size and population, and the heights of its peaks. These are widely repeated, and they were not on an official page we could stand on.
• A parking charge at the Fairy Pools. A search summary gives one; the car park's operator does not publish it where we could read it. The Storr car park's charge is printed because The Highland Council's own page gives it.
• Opening hours for the Portree iCentre. VisitScotland's page loads them by script, so we point you to it rather than printing hours from elsewhere.
• What the Skye Bridge cost and what its toll raised. The toll's end on 21 December 2004 is printed; the money figures wait for a government source.
• History dates for Eilean Donan. They belong to the castle's own history page, and they are printed only when read there.
• One refund policy for a listing that gives two. The private day from Portree says 24 hours in one place and 30 days in another, so its card tells you to read the terms at checkout.
• One Glasgow pickup time. The Timberbush listing gives both 10am and 10:15am, so we say mid-morning and send you to your confirmation.
• A Travelers' Choice badge. No listing in this capture carries that award, so the badge is not shown on this site.
