Basalt pinnacles, a landslip ridge, sea cliffs and clear pools under black peaks. Weighing up Isle of Skye tours? These are the places a day on the island takes you.

The set opens on the Old Man of Storr, the leaning pinnacle above the lochs of Trotternish, seen in clear weather, close up among the fallen boulders and across the water at dusk. Then the Quiraing, where the road climbs under the landslip cliffs, and Kilt Rock, where a waterfall drops off the basalt columns straight into the sea. At the far west end of the island, Neist Point runs out to its lighthouse.

In the south are the Fairy Pools, the chain of waterfalls under the Black Cuillin: in sun, in snow and in low cloud. The river at Sligachan runs under the same peaks, framed by the arch of the old bridge. Portree's painted harbour front appears by day and at night.

The last frames are the way in. The Skye Bridge crosses from Kyle of Lochalsh, and Eilean Donan stands on its islet at Dornie, on the mainland just before it. The final picture is the steam train on the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which a few tours ride on their way to Mallaig.
